REVIEW: A YEAR WITHOUT MAKE-UP

Have you ever wanted to just quit your job and travel the world? Well, that’s exactly what Stephanie Yoder did at age 25.

Now, almost three years later, she’s traveled around the world (almost), met the love of her life, and has become a successful travel blogger telling her tales on her blog Twenty-Something Travel.

So after seeing Steph’s announcement on releasing of her first eBook, A Year Without Makeup, I grabbed my iPad and tapped ‘purchase’.

I had originally planned to leisurely read the book throughout the week, but I was hooked. I ended up casting all other plans aside and finished the book in one afternoon.

Although I’ve been a follower of Stephanie’s blog for a while now, after reading this book I felt even more connected to her and her stories. This book is relatable on so many levels, even if you are not a fellow traveler or blogger.

Of course this book may resonate most with those who travel, but it will also resonate with anyone who’s ever changed directions in life, fallen in love, or was once a 20-something-year-old trying to find themselves in this crazy world.  And the way Stephanie narrates her stories is easy to read and light-hearted. Reading her book felt like we were just two friends, exchanging travel stories on a lazy Sunday.

A Year Without Make-Up chronicles Stephanie’s first year backpacking– the adventures, the mishaps and the lessons learned. But don’t let the fact that it’s a series of reworked blog posts fool you into thinking you don’t need to read this book. Avid readers of Twenty-Something Travel will find new twists and insightful information worked into her stories.

The title, A Year Without Make-Up, is the perfect analogy for how travel changed Stephanie and perfectly sums up the tales told her in eBook.
