Every Friday I’ll be sharing a photo from someplace in my travels.
This week’s photo is of a traditional red sail junk in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour.
Junks, traditional Chinese fishing boats, once filled the harbors of Hong Kong. Originally these boats were used for extensive ocean voyages to explore and trade throughout all of Asia.
Today only two of these iconic red sailed boats remain, as a symbol of the romance and adventure associated with the past. Both of these boats offer harbor cruises daily, and although I haven’t been on one yet, I can’t think of a cooler way to take in the sights.
