Every Friday I’ll be sharing a photo from someplace in my travels.
This week’s photo is of the Permanent Chinese Cemetery in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong.
Death is a subject no one likes talking about, but in a place as crowded as Hong Kong, just what happens after people pass away? With Hong Kong being so tight on space, you won’t find many people buried here. There are cemeteries however, but only to display memorials paying homage those who have passed.
The bodies of the deceased are usually cremated, and kept in mausoleum-like structures on religious grounds correlating to the family’s beliefs. Therefore, if you are visiting your ancestors, you will usually have to visit two separate places.
