Every Friday I’ll be sharing a photo from someplace in my travels.
This week’s photo is of Hello Kitty in NYC!
When I first arrived in New York, my ride was driving me through the city to drop me off at my hotel. On the way we passed by a giant Hello Kitty, which took me by surprise! I had to go back and find this giant kitty to see what it was all about.
Located in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, this piece of art was created by the Japanese artist Sebastian Masuda, coinciding with the Japan Society’s current exhibition Life of Cats. Miss Kitty has been slowly becoming filled with art projects from children around the city. The Time After Time Capsule project has already taken place in other cities around the world like Miami and Amsterdam, and more cities are planned for future installments. These kawaii characters are suppose to eventually reunite in Tokyo to help celebrate the Olympics– so looking forward to seeing you again in 2020 Kitty-chan!
