Every Friday I’ll be sharing a photo from someplace in my travels.
This week’s photo is of Strawberry Fields in Central Park, NYC!
Running through Central Park to get to Japan Day, I made it a point to stop by the famous Strawberry Fields. As someone who greatly appreciates The Beatles and grew up listening to their music, how could I not?
People stood in silence surrounding the mosaic paying homage to John Lennon, just steps away from his old home where he was murdered in 1980. Flowers adorned the mosaic forming a peace sign, while fans laid additional flowers around other areas of the memorial. In the distance you could hear a street performer softly playing Imagine on guitar. It was quite a sobering experience, but a beautiful one at the same time.
